Alcoholism is defined as a disease that people can use alcohol to interfere with your life and the basic operation of your daily activities, needs and responsibilities.
Alcohol is considered clinically examining the amount of alcohol a person consumes. A woman who drinks more than seven drinks per week or more than three drinks a day and a man who drinks more than 14 drinks per week or four drinks in a day would be considered an alcoholic. One drink is defined as 12 ounces of beer, 5 ounces of wine or 1.5 ounces of 80 proof liquor.
Warning signs of alcoholism vary from person to person. Generally, when these warning signals are evident. Here are some of these signs.
- It lacks a lot of work or school
- Interest in losses in the family, friends or activities
- Depression
- Having to deal with any problems
- Insomnia
- As often intoxicated
- Moody
- Drinking-related health problems
Alcohol when taken in moderation is a good way to relax and enjoy a social engagement, where when alcohol becomes a problem that can make all those around the alcoholic. Some things I can say that a person may have an alcohol problem are:
- The concern about not having money to buy alcohol or
- Hide the alcohol so that others know they have
- Often, they want to be drunk or get drunk faster
- Can not stop drinking once started
- Another comment hearing in your drinking
Alcoholism should always be taken seriously. If you or someone you know has a drinking problem professional help is available in all communities. Acknowledging this is the first step to finding a solution.

This is a great blog. I have read 3 articles on eating disorders and 2 on alcoholism. You provide excellent and accurate information. Your descriptions, sign and symptoms of disorders are spot on. I am quite familiar with behavioral health and the DSM. I love to see people diseminating good, helpful information to the public on mental health.
